Medical Physics Services

The medical physicist, in this century, made a valuable contribution towards the development of a multitude of techniques and equipment playing an important role in contemporary medicine. In specific medical disciplines the medical physicist is directly involved in certain patient procedures and techniques and is even responsible for some aspects of these procedures and techniques. This involvement is found primarily in the radiation disciplines, viz. 

  • Radiation oncology
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Radiology

The medical physicist further is responsible for the protection of the public and hospital staff against ionising radiation.
