To provide as a primary purpose a medium whereby persons engaged in the professional practice of medical physics throughout South Africa may communicate more readily with each other and through this process advance the science of medical physics.

To organise scientific society meetings on aspects of the application of physics to medicine in general.

To render advice and assistance in matters pertaining to the discipline of medical physics and its professional advancement to individuals, associations and official bodies.
