Membership Grades

There are four grades of membership, each restricted to individual members of the SAAPMB.

  • Members, who are registered as medical physicists with the South African Medical and Dental Council.
  • Associate members, who are individuals who do not qualify for Full Membership but whose avocations and interests lie in a field of physics or engineering applied to medicine.
  • Student members, who are bona fide students whose interests lie in a field of physics or engineering applied to medicine.
  • Retired members, who are Members who have attained full retired status, even though they may still be employed in a temporary capacity. Registration as a medical physicist with the South African Medical and Dental Council is not compulsory for retired membership status.
