South African Medical Physics Society

Welcome to SAMPS

The South African Medical Physics Society is the only body in South Africa which officially represents Medical Physics Professionals, a small community consisting of approximately 90 members which are primarily employed by Universities, Technicons, government hospitals and private practice.

Changes taking place in South Africa have become a challenge to all skilled professionals. Health and education policies are being revised which affect the conditions of service and responsibilities of Medical Physicists. The SAMPS is instrumental in defending the interests of this community, such that the standard of training and research, and the vital input of the Medical Physicist in Radiation Medicine, is not compromised.

The increasing involvement in private practice presents additional challenges to provide sterling service while at the same time remaining competitive and cost effective.
