Welcome to the official website of the South African Association of Physicists in Medicine and Biology (SAAPMB). In 2010 the SAAPMB celebrates its golden jubilee and to mark this event we have also revamped our website.
In 1960 eight medical physicists came together to form the then South African Association of Medical Physicists. We dedicate this year to the pioneers in the photograph below.
The website is intended to inform members of the public and prospective members of the SAAPMB of the history of medical physics in South Africa and current activities of our association and its daughter societies: the South African Medical Physics Society (SAMPS), South African Radiation Protection Society (SARPS) and the South African Radiobiology Society (SARS).
Its other objective is to be a one-stop site for our members to find and share information. The criteria for membership are listed in the constitution of our association and membership must be approved by Council. To gain entry to the restricted part of the website members must register and their annual subscriptions should be paid.
